Apple Corrects iTunes Store Math - InformationWeek





A hebdomad ago, Apple said its iTunes Music Shop offered 10 million songs. But now 4 million songs have got gone missing.


The disagreement was noted over at Macintosh Network News, which have posted of Apple's 10 million song claim. The iTunes music stock list rising prices appeared in a short letter that Apple sent to iTunes clients last hebdomad announcing that iTunes was five old age old.

Apple did not react to a petition for comment.


Apple currently states that 6 million songs are available through iTunes, the figure officially cited in Apple selling stuff back through September 2007.


"The iTunes Shop is the world's most popular online music, television and film shop with a catalogue of over six million songs, 600 television shows and over 1,500 movies including 200 in arresting high definition video," Apple said on May 1.


In an Aug. 14, 2007, fourth estate release, Apple said it offered over 5 million songs through iTunes.


Amazon.com inch January said it sold more than than 4.9 million songs through its rival MP3 Download service. According to an in The Wall Street Journal, Deutsche Depository Financial Institution analyst Jeetil Patel estimated that Amazon's digital mass media enterprises have got produced less than $100 million in yearly revenue, despite $300 million in investing over three years.


In early April, Apple that according to information provided by the NPD Group, it had surpassed Wal-Mart arsenic the prima music retail merchant in the United States. It said that it have sold over 4 billion songs through iTunes worldwide, in the five old age of its existence.


In February, an NPD Group study said that Apple's iTunes Shop was selling 10 modern times as many MP3 songs as Amazon's MP3 Downloads service.
